HOW MUCH REISHI A DAY?
Reishi dosage: how many drops a day?
In short: Our Reishi label says 2 to 3 droppers a day (about 1.2 to 1.8 ml, or 40 to 60 drops), and no more than 2 ml. Most people take it in the evening. Hold it under your tongue for 90 seconds or stir it into a warm drink. The calculator below works out ml, drops and how long a bottle lasts for your routine.
Work out your drops
Based on the label: 1,000 mg of extract per 30 ml bottle (dry weight); about 30 drops in 1 ml; a full dropper holds about 0.6 ml. Don't take more than 2 ml a day.
How much Reishi to take a day
For our Reishi drops, the label says:
- 2 to 3 full droppers a day. A full dropper holds about 0.6 ml, or 20 drops.
- No more than 2 ml (60 drops) in a day.
- Best taken in the evening.
- Hold the drops under your tongue for 90 seconds or more, then swallow. Or mix them into tea or warm water if you find the taste strong.
If you’re new to Reishi, start at 2 droppers for the first week.
Drops, droppers and millilitres
| You take | That’s about | A 30 ml bottle lasts |
|---|---|---|
| 1 dropper (20 drops) | 0.6 ml | about 50 days |
| 2 droppers (40 drops) | 1.2 ml | about 25 days |
| 3 droppers (60 drops) | 1.8 ml | about 16 days |
| Daily maximum | 2 ml | 15 days |
What’s in 1 ml
Each 30 ml bottle contains 1,000 mg of Reishi extract (dry weight), made from the fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum with purified water and food-grade alcohol. So:
- 1 ml contains about 33 mg of extract.
- 2 droppers (1.2 ml) contain about 40 mg.
- 3 droppers (1.8 ml) contain about 60 mg.
Reishi dosage for other forms
A gram of powder, a capsule of extract and a ml of tincture are very different things, so follow the label on the product you have. As a rough guide to what you’ll see on labels:
| Form | What’s measured | Typical label amount |
|---|---|---|
| Dried Reishi slices | grams of dried mushroom, simmered as tea | a few grams a day |
| Reishi powder | grams of ground mushroom | 1 to 3 g a day |
| Extract capsules | mg of extract | 500 mg to 1.5 g a day |
| Tincture or drops | ml of liquid | 1 to 2 ml a day |
Never add up amounts across forms, and never go over the daily maximum on the label.
When to take Reishi
Most people take Reishi in the evening, and that’s what our label suggests. A common routine is drops in a cup of herbal tea after dinner. If you also take Lion’s Mane, the usual pattern is Lion’s Mane in the morning and Reishi in the evening.
What it tastes like
Reishi is bitter, and it can tingle a little under the tongue. That’s normal: it comes from the triterpenes in the mushroom. If you don’t like it, put the drops in tea, warm water, or a hot chocolate.
Who shouldn’t take Reishi
- Children, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Anyone allergic to mushrooms.
- If you take blood thinners, blood pressure medicines, diabetes medicines or medicines that suppress the immune system, talk to your GP or pharmacist first.
- Stop taking Reishi two weeks before any planned surgery.
- There are rare reports of liver problems with Reishi powder. If you have a liver condition, check with your GP first.
Questions people ask
How many drops of Reishi should I take?
For our drops: 40 to 60 drops a day (2 to 3 full droppers), and no more than 60 drops.
Can I take Reishi every day?
Yes, at the amount on the label. If you take any medicine, check with your pharmacist first.
Can I take Reishi with Lion’s Mane?
Yes. There’s no known interaction. Many people take Lion’s Mane in the morning and Reishi in the evening. See our Lion’s Mane drops dosage guide.
Is there alcohol in Reishi drops?
Yes, a little. Our drops are under 22% alcohol, which is about 0.3 g of alcohol at 3 droppers. Putting the drops in a hot drink drives some of it off.

Our Reishi drops are made from the fruiting body.
Is it tested?
Yes. It’s tested by an independent lab, J.S. Hamilton Poland, for heavy metals and microbes. The report is on the Reishi drops page.
